Hi, I'm using the fridge to hibernate Eastern and 3 toed boxies this year. We have covered this topic a lot on the boxie foum. But here is what I decided to do. First off, it's an extra fridge in the basement. So I will have to open it every couple of days for air exchange. I have 2 turtles each in a plastic box (if I remember correctly the box is 18' long, 9' wide and 7 inches deep.) I drilled lots of hole in the sides of the box and the lid. I filled the box 1/2 way up with Bed A Beast and some mulch all mixed up. I cooled the turtles naturally outside (Ohio). The fridge is 40 degrees at the top and 42 at the bottom. After giving the turtles a long bath to hydrate I placed them inside the boxes and loosly placed oak leaves on top of them. It is very important not to feed them 2 weeks before they hibernate. The food will rot in their bellies and possibly kill them. Also the bedding must be moist (not soaking wet) to help with hidration during hibernation. I also weighted them before putting them in and will also check thier weight every month for sever weight loss. Remember, these are boxies and will be in hibernation 4 to 5 months. Hope I helped, and I'm sure I forgot some details, If I remember anything else I'll post it :). Let me know via this post or through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns. Dawn
