Marie, I second everything Andrew said. I live in NY and bought the typical "cute sulcata hatchling" without knowing any better. Now that he is part of our family, I'm dealing with thoughts that we will eventually have to give him up as adult sulcatas don't do well housed indoors. And they eventually do reach adult stage, long as it may take. A better suggestion would be to get a Captive Bred (CB) colder species, such as the Russians, Horsfields, Greeks, etc. One of the Mediterranean varieties does much better up here in the cold parts of the US.
