I've used them for my geckos, but now I just use an
undertank heater. Seemed that even a low wattage
was too dry/warm.
Since the moon isn't the same every night, I think
an artificial attempt to duplicate it would be
too "same" and therefore self-defeating.
Depends, do your torts sleep at night or are they
tinkering around?? Mine sleeps the night through
in his aspen "nest" with his eyes closed shut zonked
out. So any light would just be a nusiance. If
I have to use a bit of heat I use the ceramic heater
on a thermostat only.
You know, I think reptiles know it's not the sun
or the moon, just light bulbs, that's why the
outside light access (by windows for example) can
so influence them even if people are trying to
do something else artificially (such as changing
the breeding seasons). I think other
things such as barometric pressures and temps,
and length of daylight hours are noticed by them
a lot.
