Is your vet in CDT territory? How does the tort's shell look, does it pyramid? By the way is the shell light or dark. I ask because my CDT babies with dark shells grow faster and seem stronger and are better eaters. Just wondering???
Thanks, Zab
: I had a trip to the vet today for a respitory infection for my spider tortoise and was totally amazed by the vet's CDT. The vet actually had a California Desert Tortoise in an enclosure in the back and showed me to him. He is three years old and the size of a twenty year old. My guess would be is that he is 4-5 pounds. Her secret? She exclusively feeds him "Zoo Med" "Box Turtle and Tortoise Food" which looks like rabbit pellets. I have never before seen such growth in a CDT. He is the size of a 15-20 year old and his carapace is already starting to concave. I have 7 CDTs of various ages and I have 10 year olds who are half the size of this one!
: I know there has been a lot of views regarding the manufactured tortoise food out there but I just thought this might bolster some "pro Mazuri" keepers. Granted this is one tortoise and does not constitute proof across the board but is interesting nonetheless.
