You have to be real careful in your are. The winters are cold and, worse of all, damp. The people you need to contact is the local chapter of the California Turtle and Tortoise Club. I you are not a member you should join. It is probably one of if not the best resource in the country. I Know they have a chapter in Sacramento. I also know there is a huge Turtle/Tortoise keepers population in San Francisco. You might give East Bay Vivarium a call with questions on who else you can talk to in the area.
