First, I am a newbies in this.....
I have three of this tortise and are hoping to find out more abt them. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Have visit the TortiseTrust Site but are still unsure about what they eat. I have been feeding it with spinach and papaya, cos' I have no access to their natural food (prickly pear). Is there a subsitute? Their habitat, should it be dry or wet?)
Please also help me with the below qns.
What are actually a "basking" area?
Where to get the "spectrum light"?
Do I actually need to add salt into the water they drink/soak? (seems like they are not drinking the water I provided) If yes, what kind of salt?
Should I be looking out for anything?
There are white discharge in the urine of a tortise, is it normal?
Do they yawn?(normal?)]
Do I let them stay in the water the whole day?
And.....any other information...Please!!!!!!
: Also, I've been feeding them with chewable CAL-D3(calcium) rubbed on spinach everyday.
: Contents of CAL-D3
: ==================
: Calcium Carbonate from oyster shell 800mg (equivalent to pure calcium element 320mg)
: Vitamin B3 - 50I.U
: Lactose - 440 mg
: Peppermint oil - 4.27 mg
: Gelatin - 160 mg
: Vegetable oil - 160 mg
: Glucose - 1.52 g
: Sucrose - 1 g
: The water here is also highly treated (for human consumption), any problem for them?
: I've shone them with fluorenscent light every night(correct basking method?).
: Do I have to bathe them every day? Is it healthy to bathe them at night? Bathe them in cold or warm water?
: How often should they be fed and what's the quantity like?
: Lastly, what should be the color of their faeces?
Thanks and Rgds
