: : My neighbor has a gorgeous plant with many huge flowers on it that she calls a cactus dahlia. I've never heard of it, but the flowers look yummy (for Virgil) to me. They are just enormous and the blooms last for days. Any thoughts? Thanks.

: Hi Lisa,
: As far as I know, dahlias are edible. Cactus dahlia refers to the shape of the flower (petals are pointed). There are also pom-pom, dinner plate (huge flowers), and several others I can't think of right now. The whole plant is edible but make sure no fertilizer has been used on them. They grow from tubers (sorta like a potato). Hope this helps.
: Martin
