To me, Forest floor and cypress mulch are more for
animals requiring higher humidity than sulcatas.
Cypress mulch if dry gets very dusty.
I'm assuming this is going to be indoors. I use
aspen indoors, the Kaytee kind in a large bag.
3 bags do nicely in my 8 ft. enclosure. It's also
lightweight, you have to think about weight when
you want to replace the substrate, and daily
cleaning. That was the problem I found with
other substrates in large enclosures - excess
weight. Sand/topsoil can quickly get into the
100's of pounds quickly! Not fun!
You want a substrate you can easily clean and see
where/when it's dirty too, can't beat aspen for that.
You could always put some dirt in part of the
cage, I also like Lizard Litter (Kenaf Plant variety only!).
When mine was a youngster I used rabbit pellets, but
found them too dusty and not providing enough
firm footing when walked over. take care, niki
