If your tortoise is growing too quickly or too slow how do you know? The only thing we have to compare to is growth rates in the wild. Now if you look at different growth rates for different populations in the wild you will notice that there are different rates for different populations dependent on individuals, habitat and season. All of these have a range so there are no constants. Even general trends are different dependent on zones and habitats. So it would only stand to reason that if you have a tortoise like the one posted down below you are doing something right regardless of time. There are tortoises that look like that which are a year old. Is that bad? I don't think so and there are no studies to support that it is. If the tortoise is healthy and the shell has good bone density and form that's all you can hope for. Whether this is achieved in 1 year or 10 should be of no concern. (unless, of course, I read some evidence or experience something to the contrary).
