Flood Lights for Sulcata in Phoenix?

I have built a nice doghouse style shelter my tortoise. I also have a pig blanket. I want to use a flood light for some additional heat, but I am not sure if it will be to bright at night for him. Does anybody else use these in their shelters @ night. doghouses, sheds, etc.?
