hi Linda,
As long as Annie is fit & well, alert & active, & please's you, then do not worry about her size/weight.
I'm sure that she's ok,if you say that she feels "heavy" for her size (when picked up).
Do try to ensure that she gets plenty of calcium, in any form.
My "beasts" eat cuttlefish bone like it's going out of fashion.
(note; when using cuttlefish bone, remove the actual "shell/boney structure", before allowing you torts to eat/graze on it. I've read reports that the shell "can become stuck in the intestines/rear end & cause trouble)I've never experienced it, but prevention is cheaper than the cure.

The shell of Annie looks great for "smoothness", well done.

Where in the world are you located?

: I posted a couple of months ago about my sulcata's weight and size, because I too thought she was light compared to others but the only responses I got was that slow and steady was the best growth and not to worry. She gets plenty of sunshine and has cuttle bone, but doesn't eat it. She doesn't feel light, since she is not much bigger than my box turtles and they weigh a little less than a pound. She eats grass, hibsicus flowers, roses and optunia. There is always lots of poop too. She is alert and healthy looking, walking around the yard each day. The only thing that I can see I have been doing different than others is that she has been fed very little store bought greens or veggies. I will try to get some pics of her posted here, I have some posted with the yahoo groups for anyone that belongs to them, she is in the photo section in an album titled Annie. I would love to here others comments on why my sulcata is so light compared to others.

: : I'd really like to see a sulcata that big that's
: : so lightweight. Teddy's nearly 10 pounds heavy
: : at 8 inches, at 2 1/2 years old.
: : Reptiles should feel surprisingly heavy when
: : picked up, like they're filled with water! They
: : shouldn't be lightweight feeling.
: : Makes me nervous thinking the shell must be
: : paper-thin. Wonder if they're getting calcium
: : and lots of sunshine?? Sorry, just another
: : observation like Grahams. niki
