I agree--try something else. What tests did the Doc do to determine a Resp. Infection? Has he ever been dewormed since you had him? Is this Doc a recommended Reptile Vet? Just curious, b/c some are not. Mine had bubble blowing and watery eyes and it ended up being diet. He got shot of vitamin A and I changed the diet to include more vitamin A. Within in 2 days all was OK. That was a year ago. Your lighting sounds good, so no problem there. What about adequate outdoor natural sunlight daily? Do you let him graze outside? They need at least 20 a day if possible. Hope this helps.
: Rob,
: Your vet should have probably tried something else by now! Has your vet treated tortoises before? I have had good luck useing baytril on resp. infections. Baytril should probably only be used once (four or five injections) because it can damage the kidneys. Don't tell your vet someone on the net told your he/she is wrong, but you need to tell them that the treatment is not working. If the vet is new to torts you may need to find another one.
: Good luck
: : I have a sulcata that is about 6" and went to the vet for a runny nose. THe vet gave me ceftazadine. I hade to give it to him every three days for 21 days. Afterwards he still had it and I boughthim more now that it is gone I checked to see if he still had it by making him struggle a little bit. He blew bubbles and made a funny noise. Does the noise have anything to do with it. I give him heat in 70's to 80's with a basking spot. I give him collards and romaine and let him graze when weather permits it. Can someone help me for I am in fear he may die.
: : Thank you Robert
