As long as it's not soil with crud in it like the little
white balls, it should be fine. I would add about
a third of the volume in sand, to aid drainage, so
it will not be humid as just soil. Enjoy! I can't
find a russian near me, after an exhaustive search,
I'm resigned to driving to florida in the spring to
find one..... *sigh*
Have fun
: : I Put Tully in a box of potting soil so she could dig and she has covered herself
: : with the dirt I was wondering if I should just leave her alone or after awhile
: : take her out and will she be ok staying under there for a long period of time?
: : thanks for all the help Kyra
: Potting soil is not good. Russians like to eat the
: white balls(perlite)This can cause intestinal problems.
: Mine love to burrow into a pile of timothy hay. You can
: get it at most pet shops that sell rabbit supplies.
: Alfalfa also works but timothy is easier to dig into.
: How big is your tort?
: Joe
