i dont use a fishtank, but if i did, i'd get a heating system for it so that you can set the temp to where you want it, and the system will turn on and off to keep the temp steady. My tank is wooden, with a sliding glass front and a hinged top that is left open all the time except on really cold nites. I have 2 electronic thermometers (one for her hot side, and one for the cool side) that are set to maximum and minimum temps. When ever the temp goes above or below the limits i set, it beeps once a minute until the problem is solved.

: There is absolutely nothing WRONG with using fishtanks. Some care must be exercised and there are more suitable containers but fishtanks can be use with just as much success as any other container.
