My 6 month old redfoot doesn't seem to be a basking sort of tortoise. The only time he comes out of his den is to eat. I let him roam around the living room & terrorize the cats while I'm watching the evening news, then it's back in his pen & back in his den.
My question is, why would I have to provide UVB light to a creature that stays hidden? There's a double flourescent fixture over his pen containing one regular cool white tube & one ReptiSun tube that probably needs replacing. All of his greens get dusted with Reptical (sp?) but Mazuri tortoise chow is his favorite food.
Anyone have any thoughts on this matter?
