: Toby,
: The heat panel was tested last night. Outside temperature dropped down to 19 degrees. Also cold for quite a few hours - was 27 by 10:30 last night and is currently 24 at 8:00 this morning. The coldest the cool end of the tortoise house got was 64 degrees, back up to 68 now - not bad for a single 150 watt panel. The area near the panel was still nice and toasty. The tortoises will be out grazing in the sun this afternoon.
: : Toby,
: : I use a 150 watt (18" x 24") Enerjoy radiant heat panel in my outdoor tortoise house. It is on a thermostat to maintain the cool end of the house at 72 degrees. Mine is mounted overhead on chains attached to ceiling hooks so the basking distance can be adjusted. Consider protecting the panels if mounted on the side of the house as they could be easily damaged by sulcatas. I ordered two of these for my 4 x 7 ID tortoise house but so far a single panel has maintained the desired temperature on nights in the upper twenties (I built the tortoise house with R-20 insulation all around). So far I really like this product. Purchased from Pondside herp Supplies but Bean Farm also has good prices on these.

: : : I am building a sulcata house and at one end I would like to place a heating panel on each side. The house is big enough so that they can thermoregulate. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, websites, brands, etc. on a heating panel that has worked for them. I have a few links but would really like to get some testimonials regarding a few that have been used in the field.

: : : Thanks
