: just wondering about this subject because there are few commercial pellets out there in the marktet claim that they are perfect for tortoises...what you think?? anyone using it?? why or why not???
A very debateable issue, but for the most part, NO pellets are good for a main diet... but only as a part of a diet that includes fresh greens, and sometimes fruit. There are many things to consider, one being the species of tortoise, and another being what kinds of greens you are feeding. Most tortoises need high fiber, low protein and fat. Grasses and such are the main part of the diet, with some leafy greens/weeds, a bit of fruit for a treat.... some people supplement this with any number of packaged tortoise foods, and calcium/vitamin supplements.
