Well,I am not sure about it either.I bought some to feed Maggie along with her grass mixture this winter. We went to look at two torts that were for sale here.Four years old. They have almost perfect shells and are very large. One forty lbs and one fifty pounds. They have been fed the Mazuri all their lives along with grocery greens and fruits.Maggie loves it so I thought I'd try it.She is already pyramided some, thought maybe she would impprove with this......you never know do you?
: A few years back I began feeding my female leopard tortoise mazuri. Everyone told me how good it was for them, not to mention she loved it. My lep ate mazuri in the morning and I offered greens in the afternoon, she usually avoided the greens. To this day I am not quite sure about the stuff, that being said I no longer offer it to any of my animals. There are many foods to feed a tortoise and variation is very important. I have left the chows behind in favor of organic greens, oputina fruit and pads, dichondra, st. augustine, and bermuda grasses. All my animals seem quite healthy, I'm sure all the tucson sun is not hurting. So to conclude if you decide to use mazuri, use it as a part of a varied diet.
