: I've got 2 Russians, both males (according to the vet). One is about 440 grams, the other is 350 (the pet store picked them based on my request for "same sized" ones). I asked the vet if their size difference could lead to physical "bullying" and she said "no." Last night, though, the bigger one opened its mouth and chomped at the smaller one (who knew what was going on and tucked up, leading to the big one's just nipping the lower shell edge). Has anyone out there had a similar problem, and is there any way to deal with it short of separation? Am I over-reacting, and is the smaller guy not truly in danger(he has no showing of any injury)?

I now have 6 russians that share the same pen. Occasionally they will bite.
It is usually when one thinks the others food looks better. It doesnt seem
to be size or sex related. The other time I've seen them bite is when mating.
