Have you tried giving them a cuttle bone? My 2 leopards had overgrown beaks from their lazy winter in the house. When spring came I gave them one and within 2 weeks their little beaks were short and in great shape, no traumatic trimming. (Probably more my trauma than theirs.)

: : How exactly do I go about doing this to a small leopard tortoise, and a very large redfoot? Also, do I need any special clippers? I know most people go to the vet to get this done, but I took these two on rescue, and I do all the maintenance on my other animals. Thanks.
: Chris,i have trimmed several beaks...i use a Fiscars soft grip scissors(very carefully), and then a good nail file to smooth it out. I'm sure any good sharp scissors will do,but make sure it's fairly heavy duty, and trim a little at a time.Good Luck,it's easier than you think!
