: Looking for any and all info on tortoises as pets. What are good websites to check? Good breeders to contact? And a specific question - what are some of the the smaller types of tortoises that can be kept? Thanks in advance.

Here are some good websites to start with. Also, any of the Testudo species from the mediterranean region are good choices, they are fairly small as tortoises go, and pretty hardy in most areas of the US (assuming that is where you are). What climate you have is a major consideration.

For breeders, check the classified section here on Kingsnake, or www.turtletimes.org/classified you are much better off looking for CB (Captive bred/born) This is important due to health issues, you want to make sure they are used to captivity and are parasite/disease free.
