I have a yearling living in a vivarium with Lizard Litter as substrate. He has had no problems until about a week ago I noticed his eyes watering in the mornings only. It has happened about 4 times in the past week, only wet in the mornings. His diet includes romaine, zucchini, watercress, endive, escarole, and baby bok choy (once in a while). He grazes on grass outside almost everyday for at least 30-60 minutes, and more on the weekends. I soak him in a tub about every other day. He has a full spectrum lamp over the cage and I use a overhead ceramic heater at nite only. One sulcata owner suggested I change the substrate to 1-2 inches of sand on the bottom, and sterile top soil on top. Any thoughts on whether this is a good idea, and what the causes of watery eyes are?
