Hi Joey,
Mine live like wild animals if health permits. Often I find babies that have eluded me for years! Even the babies that are hibernated, seem better for it. A friend who keeps these locally doesnt hibernate his and he has some of these wild ones off spring. They are huge! This cant be natural or healthy. But you really have to be confident to even make hibernating worth it- or its just too much stress on you :)
The big prob I have (20 miles N of Austin) is fire ants. These can get babies if they are confined to too small of an area or just as they are hatching. Racoons is my second worry. Weather isnt much of an issue with the Easterns Ornates and Three Toed, here. Altho we havent ever kept gulf coast turtles.
