Your baby can go quite some time without eating, (weeks!) They are not mammals and do NOT need to eat daily! I use one method only. I starve them into it. You have to not feel sorry for this tortoise...by continuing to give in, he is winning. (but losing becaue of bad diet) If he is healthy otherwise, he will be FINE, and will not let himself starve to death!

Offer grazing mixes, fresh edible cactus, cactus fruit, rose petals, hibiscus, mulberry, etc. and stop the lettuce immediately. He'll eat when his instincts kick in. People coddle tortoises too much IMHO...and the tort then takes full advantage of it! Also...most people overfeed.

: We have a baby sulcata and he's eating great except for the fact that he'll only eat romain lettuice, no matter what else we put in there he will only eat the lettuice and leave everything else go, is this normal behavior or could there be something wrong.
