I understand the wisdom of not housing different species together that require different environments, such as a redfoot & a leopard. I also understand the potential harm that could come from introducing a wild caught tortoise into an enclosure. My Greek & Hermanns came from the same breeder who keeps all of his hatchlings together (greek, marginated, & hermanns) so I'm not at all worried about these guys being in the same pen.
I've recently acquired a CB Russian hatchling. From everything I've read, russians require virtually the same things as greeks & hermanns. Assuming he's healthy, what harm would come from housing him with the other two? I keep hearing about "potential cross infection." Are any of these tortoises known to carry harmful pathogens?
As of now, he's inside, trying to get accustomed to his new set up. Thanks for any input!
