There are several subspecies of each, some are different sizes.

I'm getting my first tortoises next week, 2 hatchling Western Hermanns, the small form, they only get 6-8 inches when adult. The Eastern form gets larger, 8-10 inches, I think there are similar sizes in the Greeks
