Hi Dan,

Full size Russians may be around 9-10" bottom (plastron) shell length...that is a guesstimate.

Most Russians that you will find are WC, and go from $30-$50 or so. Pretty cheap for a tortoise. It is hard to find CB Russians. There are also other Testudo species that are similar in look and personality (Hermanni, Ibera, etc.) that can be good too (more money tho).

An adult might be okay in a 3x6 foot enclosure, or larger. Basically, you want to make the indoor enclosure as large as you can within reason. Better to start out large, than rebuild.

A wooden pen is fine, I would have the walls be shallower, don't need to be higher than a foot or a foot and a half. Makes for good cross-ventilation. And they won't be climbing out.

You will need UVB fluorescent lighting (I like the ZooMed Reptisun 5.0% bulb or the Desert 7%) in addition to a basking bulb. Check out the info site below...let me know if you have questions. Feel free to write me privately :)
