Hi,
i think it would help to narrow down if you can accomidate a high humidity species or an arid one and then getting into what size would help to refine things a bit.
Redfeet are really neat and personable and the Russians (arid species) are just too cool. If you get one get a captive bred tho ok? If you need to know of breeders, mail me offlistok?
Also Hernanns are generally sociable and could be accomidated inside if set up properly.
You might consider the habitat in advance for whatever you decide as well.
Im linking a helpful page below.
take care,

: What is the best turtle or tortoise to have as a friend? I have had box turtles and frankly find them a little too withdrawn and introspective. My 3-year-old red-ear is a lively sort, but doesn't seem to have much on her mind other than eating worms and sticks. I read that sulcatas are loaded with personality, but I don't have a yard, and I understand they're not good indoor pets. Is there a chelonian who will be your friend or at least make an attempt to bond? This is a serious question, preposterous as it may sound.
