: I live in Jersey, I currently keep my redfoot in a large pen indoors, I am considering keeping him outdoors in the spring and summer he is an adult male, aprox 14 inches, any other NJ . or NY people out there doing this, I would like to hear from you,
: thanks,

As an adjunct to the good advice offered by Douglas Beard, I'd like to add this. I live in central Jersey-Hopewell- and have had my male cherryheaded redfoot out for several years and believe that natural sunlight is essential for good health. However, our place is out in the woods and there is an abundance of opportunistic predators- chiefly racoons and cooper's and red-tailed hawks, not to mention the occasional neighborhood dog - that could make quick work of him. (They have decimated our chicken flock) So we built him an enclosure with a tight secure lid made of turkey wire fencing, and dug in the sidewalls deeply to prevent burrowing. I start putting him out during the day only in Apr-May, then all day by June, and bring him in in Sept/Oct.
