In Reply to: Sulcata's and drinking water...... posted by Barry on August 12, 2001 at 23:39:40:
Hi Barry,
Its normal for them to urinate when stressed or scared. Perhaps this is why they did this?
My sulcatas don't drink that much either but they have access to water if they want it.
The babies I soak in a shallow saucer and sort of a stress free reminder where the water is. Some sulcatas get downright stressed is you remove them from their environment and confine them during a soaking. Many will drink from water running on the ground and only this way.
Also if your feeding greens and stuff this is much higher in water then what these guys are designed for, and so your baby may just not be thirsty.
Take care,
tcc :)
: Well, I frequently offer my sulcatas water, but have only seen them drink once. Well, today was the second time I seen them drink and once I took them out of the plastic sweater box for soaking, and placed them on the ground, they all immediately urinated. Normal? I assumed they are are just replacing new fluids and dumping the old immediately. True? Just curious....
: thanks
