Hello,
You can do this without harming the nutrition content of the food. The only problem I had was that the berries (prickly pears) made a horrible mess when they were defrosted, due to cellular breakdown. The torts still loved them, but they will stain everything in sight. Oh well, the things you have to do for the love of torts:)
