Please do not put anything on the shell.
Most products are damaging and do far more harm than good.

Make sure that there is plenty of shade always available.
If the shell is drying out because of the sun, then there's not enough shade, so provide more shady areas.

You can wash the shell with water, but should avoid using any commercial products or oil etc.
