I have an adult male redfoot and a hatchling. Yes they do need an outside setup. As far as care is concerned, I have found that they are easy to care for. The time and expense really does lie in the habitat. They do require a large, humid, well planted home. This is not as difficult as it may seem, depending on where you live. Also, if you are willing to invest time and money in a red foot, you will be very pleased with your new pet :)
Milton, my red foot, came from a bad situation and has since blosomed into one of the most interesting and engaging pets I have (Out of 12 parrots, 6 torts, 9 turts, 20 frogs, a dog and a box turtle egg :)
