: It is important not to switch from a high veggie diet to a high grass diet too rapidly. Torts that were suckled on store greens have not developed long enough intestinal tracts to properly digest the grasses. Make the switch gradually, and their intestines will grow longer so as to accomidate the longer digestive time needed to properly digest the grasses. I would start the switch at around 6 months, and have them on a solely grazing diet by the time they are yearlings.
