: You are going to love your leopard tortoise! When I got my first hatchling she would only eat bright red tomatos that were chopped up. I began wrapping the bits of tomato in dandelion green with a bit of the red showing and she eventually got a taste for the greens that are oh so good for her.
: I think it's best to give them a big piece of the leafy area so they can tear into it and learn to break up their food. As for the harder stalk, I would always chop it into tiny tortoise bite sizes.
: Check out the Tortoise Trust care sheet... very helpful!
:: My leopard just turned a year, she is so cool. Feed a good variety of greens including endive, clover and grasses. Don't feed too much of the kale. Are you familiar with housing set up? How do you have him set up now? I hope you are prepared to offer an outdoor enclosure for the future, they do so much better outside! Post more details on your experience with torts and your current setup. Good luck! Rachel
