: For the first time Skippy, my russian tortoise, has not remaned active throughout the summer. He has gon into a corner of his habitat and dug down into the substrate and has remained mostly motionless. every few days he comes out for some food, but not the ammounts he normally eats. When he has been out I have checked him for strenght and weight and he seems fine. although he seems a little more retiring and shy then usual. I was wondering if this might be some sort of aestivation? I live in Portland OR so it is hardly hot here, and this year has been cooler than usual. Because of the coolness Skippy has been in the house more often than in the past. If anybody has any idea about what is going on I would appreciate hearing from you.
