They are so cute. These came from a mother who died when it was hit by a car. I did a demonstration of turtle anatomy for the kid who brought it to me and removed the eggs. I set them up and gave them to the kid. I didn't think they would hatch but they did. Now I am finding out if the DEC will allow them to be released. If they say yes they have to go back but if they say no (they surprise me each time so I am not making any guesses), they will be offered up for adoption. They are truely one of the cutest turtle species out there. They have the best personalities. I have a deformed adult male I wouldn't part with for all the money in the world.
Go to www.turtlehomes.org and put in an application. Send me pictures of the setup you would have for them.
I may head start them for a month or two because they are way too young to ship unless you can pick them up. They were only hatched out last night.
I am glad you have experience with salt water. This helps but hatchlings should be in fresher water. I use just a bit of salt. As they get older they venture out into the saltier waters and that's when I increase it.

BTW... these are northern diamondbacks. The mother was nice looking but rather plain.

: Lori,
: I have wanted a diamondback for so long. How do I get one or even two. I have kept salt fish for 10 years. When will you know if you are releasing them?

: Sarah

: : Sarah,
: : The reason Turtle Homes does not list animals up for adoption is because the rate they get adopted is so fast. I will have all 8 of these sulcata placed by the end of the day if it all works out.
: : Available right is

: : SA wood turtle... I have people who are interested in this turtle but we were waiting for word back from the top person.

: : Sliders: hatchlings to adult, male, female

: : Diamondback Terrapins: hatchlings (6). These still may be released. I am waiting for word from the DEC on it.

: : Box turtles

: : I believe an Amboiensis came in yesterday. I am waiting for word back from the owner about who will ship it out, them or me.

: : We are also giving away free reptile water feeders with every adoption, every phone call, anyone who wants one (donated was 4380 units)

: : We will be at the Florida Expo working 3 booths with the Tortoise Trust. We will be giving away a lot of freebies this year. If you are going look us up.

: : : Lori,
: : : I was a t the website looking for a list of animals you have up for adoption. I couldn't find it. Do you have anything other than sulcata available?

: : : Sarah T

: : : : We have 4 large sulcata Tortoises located in Texas up for adoption. They prefer not shipping. 3 smaller sulcata located in the north east. Two will be delivered to the Turtle Homes sanctuary on Saturday and two will be shipped from the individual homes.
: : : : If you are interested in any of these sulcata please contact me in private. You will need to be screened. There is NO ADOPTION FEE. Shipping charges apply for some but not all.
