: i can't remember the name of the game and fish officer, but it was Mike something. a good friend of mine had it in writing from this guy that it is completely LEGAL to transport cb desert tortoises out of the state of AZ, as long as they are GIFTED, which just means you can't sell, buy, or trade. i live in NM, and i adopted a male desert tortoise from a private owner who got tired of him. i also hear that at some of the reptile shows there, you can adopt hatchling DTs if you are 21 or over. your best bet is to adopt one through a private individual, i bet your neighbor's tortoises have babies, why don't you ask her for a hatchling or two?
: good luck
