They are worried about accidental release by a hatchling who is mycoplasma positive. It could wipe out the native population.

: My next door neighbor has 4 deserts, all that seperates our yards is a 4 foot wall. She also has 2 pairs, which is supposedly illegal, because the DFW does not want reproduction. It strikes me as DFW b.s., captive deserts are not allowed to be released anyway. Once it is captive it is supposed to stay captive.
