This says that tortoises need it every day, it must be what Mary referred to.

All Turtles and Tortoises require daily supplementation. Lack of dietary Calcium results in Metabolic Bone disease. "MBD" is the leading cause of deformities and deaths in captive reptiles. Phosphorous Free Fine powder increases absorption and adheres on to foods. Pure Lime Calcium Carbonate (exactly what they get in the wild)Common sources of Calcium including Oyster Shell, Bone Meal, Lime and even Cuttle Bone have been found to contain traces heavy metals such as lead. Kelp contains the Essential Antioxidants that remove these heavy metals should they be present.

This must be it. I do not use this, I use the Rep-Cal Herptivite. I read somewhere that kelp has lots of salt in it, I will post what I can find. How is this formulated? I must not be the only one who is curious. I am going to write to Rep-Cal and see if it really is the same thing.
: CALCIUM & KELP
: Kelp & Phosphorus Free Calcium Carbonate:
: Only $5.00 per lb.
: In keeping with nature, supplementing with a natural, nutritional source, just makes sense.
: Kelp is the same "Sea Vegetation" used in the leading reptile supplement sold at 30.00 per lb!
: Contains the anti-oxidant Beta Carotene and is safely converted into Vitamin A, so there is no danger of toxicity. Low Phosphorus, rich in vitamins, especially C, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, essential fatty acids, enzymes, Chlorophyll and Beta-Carotene. Naturally aids in the absorption of Calcium.Essential Antioxidants remove traces of heavy metals that are known to occur enviormentaly and in common Calcium sources.
: The big rave in the reptile industry is to add trace minerals into products these days. Why settle for a few in a product, when you can have them all balanced naturally? Homeopathic physicians often recommend Kelp for basic nutrition, Obesity, poor digestion, intestinal disturbances and etc.
