My vet charges $11 to do an exam on a fresh sample
of poop. Deworming meds. (Panacur usually) are
like $6.
It is illegal for a Veterinarian to prescribe
medication for an animal that he/she hasn't seen
before, so they should require you to bring the
animal in the first time, and an exotic animal
exam here is $22. Mine didn't even charge me for
that, since I have other reptiles that go there, and
do take my tortoise in for "well-ness" checks
every year.
If they do have worms you'll want to know which
kind (or the vet will) in order to prescribe/dose
the animal for the right kind or meds.
One thing is never allow any kind of Ivermectin used
on tortoises/turtles it can kill them quickly.
Make sure you have the exact weight of the animal
and the vet weighs them also. niki
