: : Okay Dusty, here's the lowdown...(my own personal solution)...I use a tongs and a knife to cut off a pad from my "tree". Then, I tong the pad on over to the sink and put on a dish washing glove and get out a scrubbie sponge. Then, I scrub the hell outta the pad until there are no more pricklies and then I rinse it off...this usually works well for me. Then, chop. I just usually cut it into strips and handfeed at night twice a week.

: I am trying to locate thornless prickly pears. I read about thema few years ago. I've not found totally spineless varieties, but have located a species that has few spines whih are very easily removed. I have just ordered some and will let all know how they turn out.

:: Here in Southern Cal I find a variety commonly called 'nopales' which are spineless and thoroughly enjoyed by CDT's. Is that what you're looking for? Rachel
