I think people do this for 2 reasons 1.the law was pased in 1975 (something like that) & we have come so far in the way we keep them since then. And 2. not many people out there want to keep & take care of the animals until they reach 4".


: I have a pair of leopard tortoises that will soon be of breeding size. My question is, if successful how do you legally sell the offspring. I was under the impression that it is illegal to sell turtles/tortoises less than 4 inches long except for scientific or educational purposes. Yet there are tons of hatchlings available in the classifieds section as well as being directly available from the breeders. Am I overlooking something? I just can't believe there are that many people who would knowingly break the law.
