* I would never release a desert tortoise back into the wild, I know that is against the law and harmful to the tortoises. However I have never heard anything about it being illegal to breed desert tortoises...
I know it is illegal to sell them, I would keep the babies or give them to good homes. I dont see how this could create any problems. As a matter of fact the place where I adopted my pair of Desert Tortoises encourages breeding them.
