Please be advised that these tortoises are sensitive to their geographic climate and food must be strictly plant material with high calcium and fiber, low phosphorus contents. I have a a couple of Stars. Although I live in a warm and humid area, the tortoises have never bred. Perhaps the animals are still to young and have not reached maturity. Ensure frequent soaking as with all tortoises. Best reading material available is A.C. Highfield's book, Practical Encyclopedia of Keeping and Breeding Tortoises and Freshwater Turtles. Order it directly from Tortoise Trust or Zoo Books. These tortoises are fairly expensive for their size and listed as a CITES Appendix II. Depending where you live you might be able to find a breeder near you who will sell. Before investing a large sum in purchasing these beautiful animals, please do read! read! read! Be prepared to house them safely and provide for a healthy environment.
