if you haven't seen Teddy's page, it's worth a look
and you can see how I changed his set up as his
needs changed and he grew.
I'll tell you something that will probably (again)
get some controversy (eeek!) but I figure you deserve
to hear it. I DID NOT soak my tortoise in the winter
months, especially as I read you let him wander
the living room (mine wanders the house), and
the chance for a draft is great, I just wouldn't do
it, if so, maybe every 2 weeks briefly and not
let him on the floor that day. My personal opinion
is that it's too risky with a small sulcata, once
they're over 10 pounds they are more hardy, heck
mine was outside walking about with me in the
yard and on the street today, it's 60 but sunny.
The first two winters I had him, I was not inclined
to take him out unless it was 70!
I also never had mine soak for the purpose of
using the bathroom, he always went on his own just
fine after basking in the morning, this is still
his routine, thus I know he's not going to "go"
anywhere for the rest of the day.
oh well, just my opinion, take care, niki
