Russian tortoises, wild caught or captive bred are absolutely charming little tortoises. They have a very big personality. However, the health of wild caught Russians versus captive bred has a big discrepency. You can get a wild caught cheap but the Vet bills can add up quickly. They almost always have worms of one kind or another and alot of them have herpes and/or respiratory disease because of the deplorable conditions they endure from capture to Pet store. Don't let the initial cheap price of a wild caught lead your decision. In the long run, a more expensive captive bred will probably be cheaper.
