it should really be done by a vet who knows tortoises. Besides, it would be too easy to make a bad mistake on your own - plus it is always heartbreaking to watch them squirm in protest. . .
Angel, my youngest (but also my fattest) had a severe overbite when we first got her, and it had to be corrected this way (since there is no such thing as chelonian orthodontestry)! She squirmed and squirmed in painful protest, but after the procedure was finished, she was able to eat better and it never grew back. Best of luck finding a good vet.
