Some people think it's a dominance thing. I'm starting to think there's nothing more to it than lust or basic instinct. Why else would they occasionally mount a rock?

: Do males know if a female is a female? The large male I just got will not leave this little (10-12 yo)guy alone. I was guessing he was male. Maybe I'm wrong. Can I trust in the tortoise's judgment of it's sex? Or can they to get confused in they're lustfull pursuit?
