Good idea to check which type of Hingeback you have, as EJ mentioned the Bells (Kinixys belliana)
can tolerate drier conditions than K. erosa or K. homeana which require a humid environment.
Check here for photos, so you know for sure which you have.You'll find decent photos of the Homes hingeback (K.homeana) and Forest hingeback (K. erosa) here: These two require a more humid environment.

As EJ mentioned and as stated at the Tortoise Trust care sheet,the Bells hinge back ( k.belliana)can tolerate drier conditions.
